Staff Environmental Engineer/Scientist – San Rafael, CA

Trevet is an environmental and engineering consulting firm headquartered in San Diego, CA. We are seeking a full-time, staff-level Environmental Scientist in San Rafael, California. Three to five years of experience is preferred. An advanced degree in engineering, geology, or a related technical discipline is a plus. Must be eligible to work in the United States and on Department of Defense installations. The ideal candidate will possess great attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to work independently and within a team. Duties will include a combination of field and office related tasks. 

The ideal candidate will have the following field experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science or comparable field
  • Possess excellent writing and oral communication skills;
  • Plan, prepare for, and attend meetings with clients, regulators, and community members and provide meeting minutes that accurately reflect the proceedings at the meeting;
  • Ability to review, understand and summarize large amounts of technical information into reader-friendly, concise articles or fact sheets;
  • Organize and plan for community tours;
  • Familiar with the MS suite, including Project and Publisher;
  • Ability to work with Adobe Acrobat software;
  • Ability to work well in a small group, and self-perform and coordinate multiple, diverse tasks common to a small company, fast-paced, growth environment; and
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve technical problems and communicate solutions concisely and confidently.

Other requirements include:

  • Familiarity with CERCLA, RCRA, CWA, CAA, and other relevant federal and state regulations and guidance
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training with current 8-hour refresher class preferred
  • Field work experience preferred, occasional collection of soils samples or groundwater samples from monitoring wells to support teams performing environmental field work in the local or regional area
