Non-Time Critical Removal Action (NTCRA), Site 1114, MCB Camp Pendleton, CA.
TREVET remediated groundwater (GW) impacted with volatile organic compounds (VOCs), primarily tetrachloroethene (PCE). The objectives were to reduce the potential risk to human health risk from PCE concentrations in GW, and to achieve no further action (NFA) status for the site without land-use restrictions. The NTCRA consisted of excavating three larges trenches for GW extraction and treatment; backfilling the excavations with gravel; installing large diameter GW extraction and injection wells within each excavation; pumping GW from each excavation and treating it through a granulated activated carbon (GAC) system. GW extraction and treatment was followed by in situ bioremediation through reductive dechlorination.
